Sleep, Sweet Sleep

I am on vacation. We were supposed to leave for Nebraska today but with Kevin's schedule change, he had to work today. I thought about going ahead and working, and thought better of it. Instead, I had Kevin take the girls into the sitters and I slept, all day. I got up the first time around 10 am, played on the computer, talked on the phone (yes, to work) and played Tetris on my phone. I went back to bed for another hour and now I am blogging. It has been wonderful. I haven't did a bit of housework or anything else. I have to leave to get the girls in just a bit, but I have so enjoyed this little bit of peace and quiet.

No More St. Louis

I can't believe that I forgot to share the best news of the week. Kevin will be helping to set up the Columbia center next week so no more trips to St. Louis for him! Maybe now we can get into some sort of routine.

Playhouse Dilemma

Here is one of Kaelyn's three-year pictures that we had taken a few weeks ago. Isn't she a doll? We had Kate's done today and they came out good too. She sure looks like her Daddy. Kaelyn looks more like me. I think they are both just beautiful.

So, I bought a play house for the girls the other night. A big wooden play house. A big wooden play house in Kansas. So, I have spend the week trying to figure out how to get it home. It looks like we will rent a UHaul truck and a UHaul trailer in Kansas City and bring it home. The hauling is going to cost me more than the house did. Oh well. I think the girls will enjoy it for many years to come.

TGIF

Yes, I am very glad that it is Friday. I do have to work for a little while tomorrow and then a birthday party for one of Kaelyn's friends tomorrow evening. She is looking forward to that. My friend is having the party at my parents place, so we can use the pool. I told her that Kaelyn was going to think the part was for her, as it was at HER grandparents house.

So, it will be another busy day. The weeks just keep rushing by. I finally had Kaelyn's three year pictures taken. They came out okay. I will post them here soon. I tried to take Kate today but she wouldn't smile for anything so we rescheduled for next week. Really doubt she'll smile then either but we shall see. Kaelyn never did. We had to work and work for them, and would maybe get one smile if we were lucky.

And really, not much else is new this week.

Halfway There

And with the push of the send button, I just emailed both of our final projects for our Strategic Planning class. And with that push, we are now officially halfway through with our masters program. The program is fourteen classes or forty-two semester hours, and this was our seventh class. WooHoo! I can definitely see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. It hasn't been easy, going to school, with two small children and working full-time but I am proud that we are making it. We support one another in this endeavor very well and I have enjoyed being on this journey with Kevin. I have learned a lot about him through this process. Although when we started this program, I knew he was a better student than I am. I am a major procrastinator. Kevin had really good study skills. I thought he would be a good influence on me. Well, it's been the other way around. He spent the day yesterday writing eighteen pages for this paper while I entertained the girls. Of course he had to work today, so I squeaked out nine pages while still entertaining the girls.

Did I mention that we both have 4.0 GPA's at this halfway mark?? Go us!

Just Another Manic Saturday

We are down to the wire on finishing, er, starting our papers for our summer class. Kevin stayed up late working on his. I got up early, before anyone else in the house was up, but still haven't done anything. As soon as I finish this blog entry, I am going to get busy.

A few weeks ago we attended Kevin's family reunion. He has many Deaf family members, thus Kaelyn got to see a lot of people using sign language. Since we have gotten home, she has started using her own version of sign. I took some video of it this morning. Isn't she cute? You can hear Kate fussing in the background. Okay, on to work on this darn paper.

BLT's and Gummi Worms

The new carseats should be delivered tomorrow. I am pretty excited. Kind of sad that my life has resorted to being excited about new carseats. Oh well, it is what it is.

Kevin is making BLT's for dinner. Kind of sad that we haven't eaten yet and it is 9 pm. Oh well, that is what that is too.

Kaelyn and I just made homemade gummy worms. She got a big kick out of it. It was really easy. She only needed a little assistance and the finished product will be ready soon.

Sixteen Hour Days

Kevin just called. He calls every night when he gets off work. We talked for maybe four minutes, when he says that he needs to get off because he has to get up at 5 am. I HAVE been up since 5 am (well 6:20) when Kate decided to start her day, and I have been going strong ever since. I don't get to go to bed when I choose because the girls are still awake. I don't think he gets that.

When Kaelyn was a baby, we had a rent-free apartement in the basement of one of my work homes. The bedroom area was one long room. When up in the middle of the night, feeding Kaelyn, I was about fifteen feet from Kevin, sleeping soundly in our bed. Call it Post-Partum depression or whatever, but many a night, I just imagined myself pegging him in the head with any object within my reach.

That's the way I feel when he says that he has to get some rest. Yea, so do I!!! Now to be fair to him, he has worked three twelve hour days in a row. He will work from 6 am until 8 am, drive two hours home, and then have the girls for the rest of the day. But, I have also been busy since the wee hours of the morning. If he does twelve hour days, I am doing sixteen.

If you happen to read this Kevin, please ignore the above griping. You are a wonderful partner and I am blessed to have the support I do.

NAH!

I think I am off a day. I thought today was August 5 but now I am not so sure. I could get up and look at a calendar but NAH! We have a school project due soon and I really should be working on that but NAH! I should also be filling out my FASFA for student loan to cover tuition this semester but NAH! I think I will just go to bed instead.

Cute Car Seats

Cute will get you every time...

Our carseats were taken from the car on the night it was stolen. After dealing with the insurance agent, paying our deductible, and various other tedious tasks, I finally ordered new carseats today. They are so cute! They are also the best seats on the market. We went to look at car seats at Sears over the weekend. I wanted to show Kevin what I had picked out (even though he had already told me that he really didn't care!). He did show a preference to the better seat though. It was very well made, sturdy and comfortable, and when I saw the pink and flowers, I was sold! I had to order them so they should be here in a few days. I'll post pictures of the girls in them after they arrive.

I was telling my friend about them, and of course, saying how cute they were when she told me that "cute will get you every time"...how true!

Potty Train

Kaelyn is now three years and three months old. We have been trying to potty train for well over a year now. She just wasn't interested. They say not to push, so we didn't but it was getting a little embarrassing. I decided to set a date, the Monday after our trip, and stated no more diapers. That has been ten days ago and she is doing great. She has had some accidents but not many. She is dry every morning. I am so proud of her.

One night last week, she was taking a bath. I heard her yelling, "there's poop in the tub! Mom, there's poop in the tub." I walked to the bathroom to take a look and sure enough, there was poop in the tub. I told her to let the water out and I started scooping the little turds. While trying to catch one, I looked down and my toothbrush was floating in the water. Dangit!
